Abstract

This thesis analyzed about teacher's strategy where it is about the strategy to apply mind mapping technique. The purposes of this research are (1) to find outmind mapping technique applied in the classroom to the students' vocabulary; (2) to find out the causes mind mapping did not apply very well; (3) to find out teachers' solutionsto apply mind mapping technique in the classroom to enhance the students' vocabulary in the English teaching learning process at Junior High School 19 Tanjung Jabung Timur. Involved two subjects, (1 teacher), this qualitative research, employed observations, interviews and docmnentations to collect data and data analysis in this research was descriptive analysis. From the result of analysis, teacher's strategy in application of mind mapping technique to enhance students' vocabulary is very important fur the students. Even though the teacher ever did missing strategies where teacher used simple technique to present materials, teacher used one media to present materials, and teacher asked the students to complete mind mapping diagrams as they can. So, the students found difficulty in spelling and memorize the English words it caused teacher did not explain clearly, the time is limit and the teacher did not make additional materials. But at last, the teacher used more than one teaching strategies such as: present vocabulary items, diagram to memorize words and write the words in clear shapes with ten characteristics in using mind mapping technique, such as; nsing many pictures, using many colors, using key words to present ideas, applying the classification of information, showing whole and detail information in the same time, using association, presenting the central image in the middle part and making learners more creative.At last, these strategies helped the students in memorizing the words easier, faster, and more enjoyable.
