Abstract

The posit.ion of media in teaching biology is very important even in parallel with learning methods, because the methods used in the learning process will usually require any media that can be integrated and adapted to the conditions encountered. The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of science teachers in selecting and using media learning biology, thn q_ecri.b the availability of infrastructure and the type of media used in science teaching biol9gy in order to syppqrt the selection and use of instructional mdia and identify the constraints faced by science teachers when selecting and using instructional media MTs biology at the level of the city of Jambi. This study uses qualitative descriptive method using questionnaires, observations, and interviews, the study sample was 21 integrated science teacher at MTs level of the city of Jambi. Results of this study demonstrated the ability of Integrated Science Teachers using instructional media in biology, based on the analysis of questionnaires and observations on the criteria of high and low (76.62% and 39.06%). This means that teachers have the ability to master the media that is used when teaching science biology, however Availability of infrastructure in schools MTs Jambi still deficient and limited. The type of media used in science teaching biology namely: Charta, torso, props, laptop, projector. Lack of infrastructure is a ma or obstacle for teachers in the use of biological learning media
