Abstract

The aims of this research is to find out The Effect of 3H (Here, Hidden and in My Head) Strategy on the Eighth Grade Students’ Reading Comprehension at the State Junior High School 10 Sarolangun. This research was quantitative research and it was conducted by using quasy-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design which two classes as Experimental Class and Control Class. The population and sample of this research is the students at the State Junior High School 10 Sarolangun. All of them are involved in this research, which consisted 58 students. In class VIII B there were 29 students as experimental class and VIII A there were 29 students as control class. The result of this research shows that there was significant effect on students’ reading comprehension after being taught through Here, Hidden and in my Head strategy. This could be seen from the T- test result which showed that the students mean score of pre-test in control class is 44,13 and the students mean score of pre-test in experimental class is 43,06 but the students mean score of post-test in control class is 70,41 meanwhile the students mean score in experimental class is 77, higher than pre-test is 43,06. In the value sig (2-tailed) was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05. The value of t0 was 4.966 and df was 56. The t0 obtained is compared to t table either at 5%. At value 5% t table was 2.144. It can be analyzed that t0 is higher than t table either at level 5%. In other words, we can read 4.966>2.144. So the researcher can conclude that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means there was significant difference of reading comprehension between the students who were taught using Here, Hidden and in my Head strategy and those who were not.
