Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the 18 character values represented in an English textbook “When English Rings a Bell” for the first grade students of Junior High School. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative method. The technique of collecting the data used in this research were techniques adapted from Creswell (2008) consisting of four stages, reading carefully, understanding specific part, marking certain parts, and make a description of the data. The findings of this research indicated the 18 character values in English textbook “When English Rings a Bell” was founded, in a text, picture, and task instruction from this English textbook and also that 18 character values in this English textbook represented in fom explicitly or implicitly but, represented in form explicitly more dominant in this English textbook “When English Rings a Bell”.
