Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the students’ perception of writing instruction during online learning and the obstacles in writing instruction during online learning In English Education Study Program UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. This research is quantitative research method by applying a survey research design. The data was collected through a questionnaire. There were 76 of 5th semester at English Education Study Program UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi participated in this research. In this research, the researcher found that learning Writing during Online Learning In English Education Study Program UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi gets positive perception. From percentage of the data based on some dimensions. Perception related to the dimension of teaching material with a percentage of 87.8 %, perception related to the dimension of atmosphere or learning environment with a percentage of 58.2 %, and perception related to the students interaction with a percentage of 82.6 %. From the finding that have been discussed that most students can adapt and adjust to all the dimensions contained in the online learning process. However, students also found some obstacles in learning writing online. 69.8% students feel learning writing online is boring, 57.8% students feel difficult to concentrate on learning during online learning. In addition, 55.3% students feel inadequate internet network in their environment is also one of the obstacles for most students in online learning.
