Abstract

This study discusses the teacher's strategy in teaching speaking at Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Karya Pembangunan (PKP) Al-Hidayah Jambi City. in this case the strategy observed is the strategy of the English teacher who teaches class XI. This study aims to find out what strategies teachers use in speaking skills and how teachers apply these strategies. This type of research is qualitative. In this study teachers and students of Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Karya Pembangunan (PKP) Al-Hidayah Jambi City as research subjects and data sources. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that: English teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Karya Pembangunan (PKP) Al-Hidayah Jambi City use various strategies to improve students' speaking skills. Some of the strategies used to improve students' speaking skills are watching learning videos and repeating them, questioning and answering, and role playing as well as direct strategies.
