Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of using Digital Storytelling, and to find out whether there is a significant difference who have been taught using Digital storytelling media on students’ speaking skills at State Senior High School Rupit. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method. The population in this study were all students of class X State senior high school Rupit. The sample in this study was 66 students from two classes. The sampling technique in this research is by using cluster random sampling technique. They were divided into two groups from two classes, namely the experimental class group from class X IPA3 with a total of 33 students, and the control class group from class X IPA4 with a total of 33 students. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data using the t-test formula, while the intended finding was that the t-count (tt) was 15,468 while the t-table (tt) of df (32) in 5% significance was 2,037, then the t-count (tt) is higher than t-table (tt) so that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha1) is accepted and Null Hypothesis (H01) is rejected. This proves that there is a significant effect on students’ speaking ability using digital Storytelling media. The value of t-count (tt) is 5,832 > t-table (tt) 1,999. Based on the results of t-count and t-table, it can be concluded that H02 is rejected and Ha2 is accepted. In other words there is a media influence digital storytelling on students’ speaking skills at SMA Negri Rupit.
