Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the students' abilities before and after being taught using the graphic organizer method and to find out whether there was a significant difference from the use of the graphic organizer method to the students' ability to write descriptive texts in 11th grade students at SMKN 2 Tanjung Jabung Timur, especially class. 11 OTKP. This study is a quantitative study, using a one group pre-test post test design that only uses one class, namely the experimental class without any comparison class or control class. There were twenty-six students as the sample of this study. The data collection instrument used was a test. Paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data. In this study, based on descriptive analysis, the researcher found that the average post-test score was 15,942, which was higher than the pre-test average, which was 9,462. Then, based on the calculation of the paired sample t-test, the value of Sig. (2 tailed) is 0.000. This value is less than 0.05. so there is significant different on students‟ writing ability than before, after using graphic organizer method in the from of teaching materials.
